Château Monbousquet White 2004 Bordeaux

Tasting Notes: Gravelly soil. Monbouquet blanc was created to prove that it is possible to make a great white wine in Saint Emilion. The wine was aged in new oak barrels on its lees and bâtonné to release its full aromatic complexity. Shows a lovely freshness and length, and lots of character. A delicious wine with tropical fruit flavors.

Food pairing: Saucisson, salmon, caviar.

Robert Parker Rating: 90
Wine Spectator Rating: 89-91

The Winery: The origins of Chateau Monbousquet go back to 1540. It is Located 500 meters south of Saint Emilion. Since the acquisition by Gerard Perse in 1993 it has become one of the appelation's leading wines. Situated in an exceptional terroir of mixed deep gravel and sandy-gravelly soil. This explain the large proportion of Cabernet on the estate such as 20% of Cabernet Franc and 10 % of Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau Monbousquet is also well known for its rare white wine made from Sauvignon blanc and Gris.
