These rich little cakes were named long ago by a pâtisserie near the Bourse, the Parisian stock exchange, that celverly baked them in the shape of gold ingots to please their wealthy clientele. Our pastry chefs' heavenly variations are wonderful at tea, served warm for breakfast or as a light dessert. The eclectic 4-cake collection includes one 4-5 oz. cake of each flavor: Almond-Cranberry Cake, with a fruity tang; lemon, with a dash of rum and lemon zest; Apple-Walnut, with cinnamon and a streusel topping and Chocolate-Ginger, lavishly studded with chocolate chips. |
